Austyn James is a Los Angeles-based production designer and graduate of the American Film Institute Conservatory, where he earned his MFA in Production Design. He comes from a strong visual background and approaches design with a mix of emotional honesty, storytelling, and a love for world-building. His work blends grounded research with surreal design to reflect the emotional worlds of the characters and the psychological forces shaping their reality. Inspired by directors like Yorgos Lanthimos, Christopher Nolan, Terrence Malick, Guillermo del Toro, and Denis Villeneuve, Austyn is always looking for ways to create spaces that feel both cinematic and deeply human.
